I have an ongoing, side practice of building a Color Library. It’s a simple premise, consisting of mixing only three primaries (+white) to see how much variation can be achieved. It’s fairly mindless, purely visual, and just plain fun … which is good.
My life as an artist started in the realm of painting. All of the different things I’ve done over the past 25 years may appear at first glance to be a fragmented approach to art-making. What ties it together for me is a core set of concerns that I have found to be the same no matter what form I’m currently employing — the basic problem-solving tools I learned as a painter.
